Teacher first

I’m a foreign-language teacher, certified teacher trainer and trained speech therapist. I’ve also been self-employed for years, so I know that running your own teaching business involves much more than teaching great lessons.

You suddenly have to think about your website, content, SEO, finding students, pricing, social media — and all the other things nobody taught you during teacher training.

Websites, content & SEO

My experience with websites and online marketing didn’t start with #teachingisfun. I studied how to do this professionally and worked with language schools and independent teachers on their websites, content and online presence.

Over the years, I’ve also built and managed my own websites, written blog content and worked with SEO.

And “work” is the important word here.

A teacher’s website doesn’t just need to look good. A potential student should quickly understand who you are, what you offer, who you work with and what they should do next.

That’s what I look at when I review a website: usability, structure, content, visual hierarchy, calls to action and basic SEO.

I don’t code, so I’m not going to pretend I can fix every technical problem. But I can identify what isn’t working, explain why and help you figure out what to improve.

#teachingisfun

This website started with teaching, but over the years it has grown with me.

Here I write about language teaching, websites, blogging, productivity, tools and the business of working for yourself.

Your website doesn’t need to be perfect. It needs to work for you and your students.
