YouTube is a great place not only to get new clients and increase your brand’s awareness, but also to increase your sales. Plus, YouTube is the most visited website. Suppose you’d like to know more about the benefits of having a YouTube channel. In that case, I have a blog post titled 8 benefits of having a YouTube channel.
If you are just testing the waters, I believe it is a great idea not to invest anything in your YouTube channel.
Nowadays, mobile phones have cameras with excellent resolution. So use your mobile phone to film videos.
Go to your camera settings and choose to see grid lines. The grid lines will help you understand that you are in the center.
In addition, you can go to Settings and choose
- video stabilization;
- to activate tracking autofocus;
- activate voice commands—take pictures or start recording videos by saying “smile,” “cheese,” “capture,” “shoot,” or others.
- activate “show palm” when you show your palm to the camera to take selfies or start recording videos.
- choose “FDA 60” to shoot in 4K resolution;
- choose “8k 24” to shoot in 8k.

Holly Moly! When I started my YouTube channel, the highest resolution was 720! LOL
Remember to look at the lens and not at yourself while filming. If you look at yourself, there will be no eye contact with your viewers.
If you have headphones with a microphone, great! However, if you do not have headphones with a microphone, no problem!
For better sound, try to film in a quiet place, preferably not in a room with empty walls. If you have a big room with bare walls, the sound might not be OK. Yet, it will be fine. For example, watch this video, filmed using a phone, without a microphone, and in a rather big room with empty walls.
To have a good video, you need not only a good camera with a microphone, but also good lighting.
You can film outdoors in a quiet place or near a window. Make sure that the light is not too dark or too bright where you are.
In both programs, you will find many features: trim a video, remove the middle part, split a video, merge clips, adjust speed, different filters, extract audio from your video, add your own music and voice-overs, and others.
Intros and outros
For intros and outros, I use Canva. You can find millions of short videos where you can adjust styles, colors, texts, images, music, etc.
I add music to my intros and outros when I edit my videos. But when I edit videos for others, some people ask me to add a bit of background music. So it all depends on your preferences.
Music and copyrights
When you use music, please ensure it is copyright-free or has a license that allows you to use it. I highly recommend using this website, where you can download lots of pieces of music free of charge, and they tell you on what terms you can use them.
For example, you can use this track (Inspiring Corporate by Mix), and they provide you with information on where and how you can use it.
“You are free to use Inspiring Corporate music track in your non-commercial multimedia project (online videos, websites, animations, etc.) as long as you credit Mixaund with a link to his website.
If you can’t or do not want to credit Mixaund or if you need high-quality files (wav, FLAC) for commercial usage, you can buy Inspiring Corporate ($9) from the Mixaund Bandcamp Page. You will receive a license agreement that grants you rights over the Inspiring Corporate track for an unlimited period of time.
50% off offer: $45 for full digital album (10 tracks / $4.50 per track).

A YouTube thumbnail is a non-animated image that is set as the preview image for your video.
You can use free templates on Canva in the preview version.
Once it is ready, you just add it to your video, and vu à la.
Location and Background
Make sure that the background is not “too busy” or messy.
If you film indoors, choose the most beautiful location near a window where the natural light is good—not too bright, not too dark. As you remember, we need good natural light because our budget is zero, and we do not invest in light.
It is not recommended to sit in the corner.
I recommend checking out a location before having a photo shoot there.
In addition, it is a good idea to check the weather forecast.
If you are a woman or a man, you may want to apply some makeup. Remember that a camera “eats it up.” So, if you are a lady, apply a bit more makeup than usual. Take some powder and/or oil control blotting paper for your face with you.
If you want to do your hair in an extraordinary way for you, I believe it is a good idea to do it at least a day before because you do not want to mess your hair up on the day of shooting.
This is one of my favorite talking points; I could talk for hours. I used to work on TV and a bit as a photo model, so I have a lot to tell. Should I write a blog post about it? Please let me know in the comments below.
Do not wear any of these patterns:
All in all, it is possible to film good videos without investing anything.
